Founded by five LA moms in 2014, Alliance of Moms is a new generation of philanthropists who mission is to break the intergenerational cycle of babies born to teens in foster care. This Mother's Day, we're in alliance too: we're offering a percentage of proceeds of our HATCH x Simone LeBlanc "Good To Glow" Box and our Iris De Mouy-illustrated "Embrace the Future" Sweatshirt to furthering the cause. 48% of young women in foster care experience at least on pregnancy by the age of 19 and over 40% of their babies will be detained into foster care within the first few years of life. Daughters of teenage mothers are 66% more likely to become adolescent mothers themselves. The Alliance of Moms creates educational programs to provide these young moms with practical tools that empower them to become informed parents who can give their babies a healthier childhood than their own.
Their flagship program Raising Baby has an expert curriculum focused on early brain development. Foster teen parents bring their children who are cared for by Alliance of Moms volunteers whilst attendees participate in workshops. Other Alliance of Moms programs include: Raising Foodies, nutrition-focused cooking classes, and Self Care workshops where pregnant teens learn how to manage stress during the transition into motherhood. They host monthly Cocktails & Conversation evenings to recruit and educate new members. They are part of an LA-based four star Charity Navigator the Alliance for Children’s Rights.
