While the jumble of red, green and gold has become a welcome palette of the holiday season, when it comes to a table we love a cleaner look that doesn’t compete with the beauty of the food itself.
Barrett suggests we start with a white tablecloth with small gold trims or details that echo throughout. From the gold-rimmed plates to brass-tipped flatware and brass-bottomed carafes, the warm metallics offer distinction and consistency. Oatmeal hued linen napkins, baskets and wicker chairs complement this palette perfectly.

The table wouldn’t be complete (at least not in by the gorgeous Valleybrink Road standard) without the addition of fresh, seasonal flowers and Barrett’s key ingredient: the persimmon.
“Adding fresh fruit, like persimmons, is an elegant and simple way to spice up your tablescape. For a recent dinner party, I placed persimmons right above the napkins. It added a nice pop of color and incorporated a natural and organic component into the decor. Also, it is a nice party favor your guests can take away!”

The result is a tablescape that feels elevated, but not precious.
