Brand Launches Bebe

NEW WEEK, NEW GIRL CRUSH. CAN YOU EVER HAVE TOO MANY? THIS WEEK WE’RE ALL ABOUT OLIVIA CHANTECAILLE, CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF NYC-BASED MAKEUP, COSMETIC AND SKINCARE COMPANY, CHANTECAILLE BEAUTE. BESIDES ACTING AS THE BRAND’S CREATIVE DIRECTOR, OLIVIA IS ALSO MAMA TO TWO-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER DELPHINA. WE SAT DOWN WITH HER TO TALK ABOUT WORKING FULL TIME AS A MAMA AND STILL HAVING TIME TO STOP AND SMELL ESSENTIAL OILS… ERRR, ROSES.

HATCH/How did Chantecaille Beaute come about?
O.C./I grew up in the beauty industry—my mother is a beauty pioneer, she’s created three makeup brands,  including Prescriptives in 1979. She totally shook up the beauty world with her innovative approach to beauty. 17 years ago she asked me if I wanted to start a beauty business with her, which would incorporate her beauty industry expertise and my background as a model, which was a great education in how makeup should look and feel when it’s done well. When we started Chantecaille our vision was simple: to create a luxurious, healthy line of skincare and beauty that worked with natural, botanical ingredients to leave your skin looking and feeling amazing.  This month I’m  really excited about our latest launch, which is a range of organic Chantecaille Bebe products.

HATCH/What are you looking to change about the beauty industry?
O.C./We formulate our products harnessing the potent power of botanicals, which are so incredibly effective. Why use synthetics or chemicals when a plant, which is better and more respectful of your skin,  can do the job? We are obsessive about the textures of our formulas, it’s so important to us that they feel incredible and deliver amazing results. We work closely with scientists to stay on the forefront of research and ingredient discoveries. For example, we were the first beauty brand to use plant stem cells, which offer the purest, most potent properties of the plant, they harmonize and work with our skin’s ability to heal itself. Plant cells and human cells recognize each other and work together. The way we work is, we see a problem, and head to the lab to devise a natural, plant-based solution to it.
HATCH/If you could describe your products in one sentence, what would it be?
O.C./We are a luxury botanical brand founded by women, for women, with a philanthropic DNA.

HATCH/What do you see on the horizon for Chantecaille?
O.C./We will continue to create products that are elegant, modern problem-solvers which are at the forefront of science. We will also strengthen our commitment to conservation by working more closely with people that inspire us.  We’re also very aware of the effects of pollution on our skin and seriously working on ways to counteract that problem.
HATCH/What’s one piece of advice you would offer other moms that want to start companies where they see a need?
O.C./To follow their instincts and their passions and do something that truly fulfills them. It’s inspiring for children to see their parents empowered by the work that they do.
