HATCH at Home: Ashley Patterson
We recently had the pleasure of getting to know a few HATCH mamas in real life here in New York City. They invited us into their homes, at all stages of pregnancy (and postpartum!), to chat through the different ways they arrived at motherhood, their highs and lows, and their go-to pregnancy beauty products. Above all else, they kept it real real. And that’s what we love about our HATCH community.
First up, meet mom of two (we met her when she was about to have her baby girl) and boss lady at IBM, Ashley Patterson.
Describe your path to pregnancy.
Very clinical. We struggled to get pregnant with our first, so we did a lot of IUIs (intrauterine insemination) because those were covered by insurance. When that didn’t work, we moved to IVF, which thankfully worked on our first try. We went straight to IVF for our second.
What surprised you the most about motherhood/pregnancy?
Hmm, probably mommy guilt! That feeling that you’re never doing enough. From a pregnancy standpoint, I was surprised how different my two pregnancies felt! (second was way harder)
How did your beauty routine change after getting pregnant?
I started using belly oil daily. With a 2.5 year old at home, my beauty routine has to be quick!
Advice to your pre-mama self?
Travel as much as you can now. Appreciate your pre-baby body because it will never be the same — even though that’s not a bad thing! Sleep (duh).
Your pregnancy style in one word.
Fitted. I’m curvy, so I find fitted styles often work best for me 🙂
What did you LOVE about being pregnant?
I loved my bump! Pregnancy style was really fun for me. It’s nice to celebrate having a tummy 😉
