HATCH/What sets Hill House Home apart from other brands?
Nell/We’re laser-focused on the design element – creating really modern, beautiful bedding and accessories that don’t feel old-fashioned or boring. I’m obsessed with beds and bedrooms, and I really believe that creating the bedroom of your dreams can and should be simple, cost-effective and fun. Too many brands view bedding as a commodity, focusing on buzzy phrases like “High Thread Count” or “Direct-to-consumer” to sell their products. We also sell our products directly to consumers – and that’s what allows us to price our products so competitively – but we’re much more interested in designing products that don’t exist on the market already, and make people excited about their beds. Our stellar design team works with the highest quality raw materials and the best craftsmen in the business to produce products that you simply can’t find anywhere else.
HATCH/Can you describe the best moment you’ve experienced as a brand so far?
Nell/The best moment is a series of moments: any time we see customer photos on Instagram or on other social channels. Seeing our products in the wild is truly the biggest thrill – I don’t think it will ever get old! It’s especially great to see the creative license our customers take with their orders. Monograms are huge for us, and I spend half my day laughing at the crazy things people decide to monogram. We recently put up a blog post of some of the best monograms we’ve seen because we wanted to share them with the world!
HATCH/If you could give 3 pieces of advice on how Hill House Home is making life better, what would they be?
Nell/ 1. We’re challenging our customers to take sleep seriously. I’m obsessive about the importance of good sleep for a full, healthy, happy life. All of the Sleep Science data that’s come out over the past few years leads to one conclusion: sleep matters. 2. We’re taking the mystery out of shopping for your home. You know that moment, standing in Bed Bath & Beyond, faced with literally 1000s of seemingly identical options, when you just want to give up? Nell/Lots of great new accessories for Holiday– Pajamas, Silk and Cotton Robes, Eye Masks – and then even more color options and designs for bedding in the new year. After that – the world is our oyster!

Nell/For bedding, I’m a Sateen Cotton girl – Sateen is slightly softer and silkier vs. our cool and crisp Percale Cotton. I switch out between (and often combine) The Waverly and The Savile Bed Sets in Dusty Pink and Classic Black. I love the look of a clean, white bed, so we use color sparingly in all of our designs – just on the trim. It’s a great way to keep your bed looking clean and chic with just a touch of excitement at the edges! I’m also obsessed with our new Boxer Cotton Robe, launching next week. We offer monogramming across the back in the coolest Varsity Letter font. In celebration of having a baby two weeks ago, I’m getting “BABY MAMA” monogrammed across the back of mine!
